Beer Issue in Selangor (Part 2)

29th Aug 2009
Another sad article to read beside feeling disappointed with attitude of Malaysian these days. Our PM is trying to come out the term 1Malaysia but then, certain quaters are taking this lightly or should i say, do not think about this at all. Today article explain a lot why 1Malaysia WILL not exist easily. The article from Star paper read as below:

"SHAH ALAM: More than 1,000 residents of Taman TTDI Jaya here have signed a petition against the sale of alcoholic drinks in their housing area.

The residents and delegates of the Al-Itisam mosque also headed to a mini market and two convenience stores here after Friday prayers to hand over a memorandum protesting the sale of alcohol.

Mosque committee member Yusof Mustapha said they had sent the petition to the state to voice their concern over the issue of more young Muslims consuming alcohol.

“I have seen it with my own eyes.

“It is worrying. We must do something to stop it, especially in the holy month of Ramadan,” he told reporters during the protest here yesterday.

Yusof said he had questioned a few boys who were drinking in a field in front of his house and were told that they had bought the drinks from nearby shops.

“We hope the shops will heed our advice to stop selling alcohol in view of the fact that 90% of the 3,000-odd population here are Muslims.”

“We are not against the sale of alcohol.

“It’s okay to sell it in places with fewer Muslims such as in Petaling Jaya,” he said."

Have a few points which are debatable, from my view point that is.

1) By signing petition we can solve racial issue already?
- If that is the case then i think majority chinese community area there we can start signing petition to enable chinese people to sell pork every where and not only at designated area. We can start signing petition to stop all Bumiputra sellers from selling the things in that area and only allow none-Bumi to do so. Is that right?

2) They know young Muslims are buying and consuming alcohol because they saw it with their own eyes. So? Car accident claim so many lives through accident......should we ban the use of cars then? If young Muslim like to buy and consume alcohol, that does not means sellers would be at fault, its should be in their teaching methods which does not emphasize on this as much as they should. So, can i say the its the ulama's fault on this case?

3) 1000 people agree to stop selling alcohol in 3000 odds population enough to create a new law? Don't they think that the 300 odds none-Bumis in that area is enough to be considered? Why torture the none-Bumis when its your religion laws that prohibit their kind from consuming alcohol?

There are too many questions left unanswered. This is a racial issue and thus, need MCA or PM help in solving it as i don't see any light at the end of the tunnel if the Bumis are only taking their points into action.
